stardate
Theory: what's stardate
Stardate is artifical time/calendar system developed to help track the current date during the warp flights. Since there is no way to syncronnize the clock and dates during the travel over the light speed ( Thanks, Mr. Einstein :) stardate system was introduced.
Stardate roughly corresponds to the standart Gregorian time with following generation formula:
Fraction before decimal point represents years and part of year. The last three digits of integer part designate part of year elapsed so far ( / ) The remaining digits consider amount of years relative to first warp flight ( 2323 AD )
The rational fraction of Stardate determines elapsed part of day, also decimally. Common usage is to define fraction of day rounded to one digit, although while comfortable in everyday life such praxis is unsuitable for space navigation. That's why high precision is provided for you. Do no try to use rounded values for real navigation! It may lead to personal unjury or/and damage your spacecraft. But while warp drive will be invented sometime in 2323 ( If we trust Roddenderry et al ), there is no danger at current time if you use rounded value.
